About AOAO Sections

Sections representing a specialty within the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics are formed in accordance with bylaws, Article I, Membership, Section 7:

Definition: A Section shall be composed of members of the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics having a common professional purpose in furthering a specialty
interest and knowledge of Orthopedic Surgery.

A. The Board of Directors may authorize and dissolve Sections of the Academy
B. A Section with adequate numerical representation as determined by the Board of Directors

  1. 1. Shall submit to the Board of Directors bylaws which shall be consistent with the bylaws, policies, and procedures of the Academy
  2. 2. The administration of each Section shall in no way conflict with the overall objectives, ideals, and functions of the Academy

C. The membership of a Section shall be open to any member of the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics practicing in that specialty
D. Membership in a Section only may be open to members of the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics, unless as otherwise determined by the Board of Directors
E. Membership privileges for a Section shall be the same are those granted members of the Academy
