About AOAO Sections
Sections representing a specialty within the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics are formed in accordance with bylaws, Article I, Membership, Section 7:
Definition: A Section shall be composed of members of the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics having a common professional purpose in furthering a specialty
interest and knowledge of Orthopedic Surgery.
A. The Board of Directors may authorize and dissolve Sections of the Academy
B. A Section with adequate numerical representation as determined by the Board of Directors
- 1. Shall submit to the Board of Directors bylaws which shall be consistent with the bylaws, policies, and procedures of the Academy
- 2. The administration of each Section shall in no way conflict with the overall objectives, ideals, and functions of the Academy
C. The membership of a Section shall be open to any member of the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics practicing in that specialty
D. Membership in a Section only may be open to members of the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics, unless as otherwise determined by the Board of Directors
E. Membership privileges for a Section shall be the same are those granted members of the Academy
