AOAO Skills Lab

Friday, January 26, 2018
Touro University Nevada
Henderson, NV

This one-day skills lab is designed for osteopathic orthopedic surgeons in a general, sports or sub-specialized shoulder practice. This would include orthopedic surgeons who have completed sports medicine or shoulder specific surgical fellowships.

Recent studies have shown that there is a need for small group learning as related to surgical techniques. The AOAO Skills Lab series is designed to provide hands on learning for smaller groups of osteopathic orthopedic surgeons.

Upon completion of this skills lab course, the participants will:

  1. Have reviewed basic arthroscopic shoulder anatomy;
  2. Better understand subacromial space shoulder pathology that may be addressed by arthroscopy;
  3. Have learned techniques to treat subacromial shoulder pathology by arthroscopic techniques including subacromial decompression, distal clavicle excision and rotator cuff repair;
  4. Better understand shoulder instability and how to decide on cause of instability including soft tissue, bony deficiency or combined;
  5. Have learned techniques of arthroscopic shoulder stabilization for soft tissue instability and open Latarjet Procedure for bony or combined instability.
